President Barack Obama delivered a powerful speech today in Selma, Alabama. There, 50 years ago this month, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Congressman John Lewis, and so many other unsung heroes crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge — standing up for voting rights and full equality under the law for all Americans. The President’s speech captured the American experience and made me proud! I had a patch of grass adjacent to my back deck that I was able to transform into yet another flower garden. Most of the flowers came from generous friends and co-workers. Here you can see the beginnings of the new garden.
Powder Mills Park An area attraction with a trout hatchery on the lands. It’s a nice park to visit.
Bass Lake is a beautiful lake in Holly Springs, North Carolina. As far as lakes go, it is pretty small! I guess I am used to Lake Ontario and Seneca Lake. Any ways this is a panoramic shot of Bass Lake. We walked around the entire parameter of the lake on Thankgiving day after we had enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. The lake capped a soul satisfying mini-vacation during the holiday.
